Chemours sells new blowing agents of low-GWP

Chemours has launched new products of low-GWP blowing agents to the market to distribute through Du Pont-Mitsui Fluorochemicals of its group company.

At present two blowing agents of HFC245fa and HFC365mfc are used to blow hard-type urethane for insulating materials. However, either has too high GWP value to attain less than 100 which is targeted for 2020 by the Fluorocarbons Emission Control Law. It follows that a new blowing of GWP 100 or less as well as having a similar or better effect than these gases is being required today.

The new products launched by Chemours satisfy the target of the Fluorocarbon Emission Control Law with a GWP of 100 or less. The trade names and the form of the gas product are as per the attached table.

According to Chemours, the feature of the new gases are that their insulating property has been enhanced, especially in terms of lasting insulating effectiveness.

The gas is produced in Chemours’ new plant in China, which was just completed in this year.

There are three packing styles for transportation, drums each containing 230kg, ton cylinders each containing 1.2 ton and ISO containers each containing 24 tons. It is said that Chemours has already contracted with about 10 or more companies at home and abroad to supply the new products. Among the domestic customers, there are some manufacturers of construction materials who use blowing agent and to start to sell insulation boards or panels.

Chemours says, “The new products having a stable property both chemically and thermally has shown up as our confidence work. It has drawn expectations to be used as a refrigerant for heat pumps or binary power generation as well as for blowing agents. We would like to make sales promotion elaborately so that the product may be used extensively.”
