TNSC operates new LCO2 plant in USA

Continental Carbonic Products (CCPI), headquartered in Illinois USA of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas manufacturer under Matheson Tri-Gas fully owned by Taiyo Nippon Sanso, completed and put into operation the plant of LCO2 and dry ice which had been under construction in Clearfield, Pennsylvania.

CCPI is a CO2 manufacturer having its production/sales bases in the Midwestern, Southern and Northeastern areas of the US. In 2014 Matheson acquired the company as a 100% affiliate. The plant construction this time is intended to respond to the demand of CO2 gas and dry ice for food in the Northeastern district where there are many large-scaled cities.

The crude gas is supplied from Pennsylvania Grain Processing of bioethanol manufacturer in Clearfield. The production capacity and the amount of investment are not made open to the public.
With the completion of this manufacturing plant, Matheson has had 49 business bases (including 13 production bases) of CO2 in North America. According to TNSC, Matheson now enjoys about 10% share of CO2 and 30% of dry ice in the US market. According to the gasworld of U.K., as reported in May 2017, the production capacity of CO2 for the food business and industrial use in the US as of 2016 was about 36,000 tons/day which was an increase by 5.5% compared with 2017 (about 0.6% in terms of annual increase), while the demand has been expanding in a scale of 2.5% per annum. The output is 10,000 tons per annum approximately, of which 70% including dry ice is said to account for food and beverage.

Capital Tie-up with US venture in metal 3D printing

The company implemented a capital tie-up with Sintavia of US venture in the metal 3D printing technology, headquartered with a manufacturing plant in the State of Florida (headed by Brian R. Neff, CEO).

Sintavia was established in 2012, a venture enterprise engaging in the manufacture of parts by metal 3D printing technologies, having an integrated production system of metal parts with various analytical, inspective and post-process devices in addition to the design of parts. They also have obtained the certifications of AS9100 (aviation/space), ISO17025 (test/inspection) and ISO9001 (quality), and are supplying parts to the aviation/space industries, heavy industry and automobile industry.

TNSC tied up in 2017 also with OPTOMEC of metal 3D printer manufacturer and LPW Technology of metal powder supplier. The tie-up with Sintavia at this time was implemented aiming to provide measures for data collection and solution concerning the technical issues in the metal 3D printing market.

In addition to providing of gas, devices and materials, they aim to realize a total solution to clear out all technical issues and show up with a sales target of 1 billion in the same field to be attained in 2020.
