Honeywell concluded a distribution agreement for R448A of low-GWP refrigerant with LOTTE Mart of Korean major retail chain. LOTTE Mart is going to introduce the refrigerant to all of its chain stores for seven years including the Uiwang shop which already started to use it.

R448A is an alternative refrigerant to replace R404A for freezing/refrigerating facilities. The gas composition is a mixture of five types of HFO and HFC, and it is most characteristic with the low GWP of 1387 which is 65% lower than 3920 of R404A. The trade name is Solstice® N40.

According to the press release, LOTTE Mart is aiming at an energy saving of 8% and the reduction of carbon footprints by 2025. With the introduction of the refrigerant, the company expects to save 3% at maximum for a freezing application and 5 to 16% for a refrigerating application in comparison with the current refrigerant.

Honeywell described the sales results of Solstice® N40 saying, “Several thousand of Asian, European and American supermarkets have introduced it.”
