Kuraray fully affiliates Calgon Carbon of US activated carbon manufacturer
With effect from March 9, Kuraray acquired 100% shares of Calgon Carbon Corporation of US activated carbon manufacturer for complete affiliation, which is doing the activated carbon business for energy and air purification applications.
Kuraray intends to bring up the business to be one of its main lineups in the future, and the acquisition at this time makes part of it. After the acquisition Kuraray will expand its business taking advantage of Calgon’s global base, make technical tie-up and reduce production costs.
The acquisition amount is around $1.3 billion. Calgon Carbon Corporation was established in 1942, headquartered in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, USA, having 1,400 employees. It has production bases in about 20 locations in seven countries over the world with distribution bases in 16 countries.
Kuraray defines Calgon Carbon Corporation as the world largest manufacturer of activated carbon.
