On April 13, the industrial-academic alliance of Taiyo Nippon Sanso, Osaka University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology agreed to the planned establishment of training center in Hanoi, Vietnam to initiate welding technologies to the local people.

In Vietnam the personnel shortage of welding engineers has been causing the current sluggish industrialization. The plan seems to back the realization of “Industry-based Country in 2020” which the Vietnamese Government targets.

Taiyo Nippon Sanso and the Joining and Welding Research Institute of Osaka University have long been working with each other in the field of R&D on welding in Japan. On the other hand, Osaka University has had something to do with the welding course of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, including receipt of trainees from Vietnam.

This alliance originated when Osaka University knew that TNSC’s local subsidiary Vietnam Japan Gas (VJG) was making similar activities including receipt of local students while Osaka University was exploring to have a research base in Vietnam. It caused an approach for the joint research.
Now that VJG has no R&D function, TNSC which is well versed in the welding technologies has come to participate in the alliance.

A training center is planned to be built in Hanoi University of Science and Technology which has a welding course. In addition to the participation in the joint research of welding, TNSC has a policy to provide assistances through the receipt of in-turns at VJG which has already been implemented since the end of 2017.
