TNSC acquires collegiate venture to reinforce SI business
Taiyo Nippon Sanso (TNSC) has acquired the whole shares of Sail Technologies (SAIL) which is a venture manufacturer of stable isotope (SI). The affiliated business is dealt with by TNSC’s SI business Division. With this acquisition TNSC plans to attain a sales in the SI business amounting to about ¥100 million within several years.
SAIL is a collegiate venture founded by Masatsune Kainosho honorary professor of Tokyo Metropolitan University in 2004 based on its own NMR technology of stereo-array isotope labeling (SAIL Method).
The technology of the venture is based on the key factor of “SAIL amino acid” which is a triple-way imaging made with the addition of heavy hydrogen to an amino acid of uniform imaging by general stable isotope of carbon or nitrogen (13C or 15N). For example, it can analyze in detail a dynamic behavior such as to see how medicine has combined with protein and how the mobility has changed. Therefore, utilization is expected in the bio-related industries including drug discoveries.
TNSC has been maintaining collaborative relations with SAIL since its foundation in the sales of products and research activities. In 2015 SAIL moved its head office to TNSC’s SI Innovation Center (Tamagawa City, Tokyo) deepening the relationship.
