Honeywell Supplies HFO1234ze(E) to Air Duster Major of UK

Honeywell started to supply an aerosol propellant HFO1234ze(E) to HK Wentworth of UK which is a world major manufacturer of air dusters.

The propellant is a non-flammable gas based on HFO with a GWP value less than 1, which causes no depletion of ozone and is exempted from the classification applicable to volatile organic compounds (VOC). The trade name of the Honeywell products is “Solstice Propellant”.

HK Wentworth consigned the production of gas dusters to Zhejiang Shanglin Technology of China and has been marketing and selling them mainly in the European market through Electrolube and AF International under the group. Thus the propellants are supplied to Zhejiang Shanglin Technology.

In Europe, with effect from January 1, 2018, most of aerosol products exceeding 150 of GWP could not be sold under the F-gas restrictions. So far HFC134a had been used as a propellant for non-flammable air dusters, but its GWP value so high at 1300 that it has been a substance to be controlled. The HK Wentworth’s adoption of the new propellant was part of the means to cope with the restriction.
