HORIBA STEC builds a new US R&D site in Reno, Nevada
HORIBA STEC opened HORIBA Reno Technology Center in Reno, Nevada, USA aiming to reinforce its development capability of fluid measurement and control technology for the semiconductor producing process, with a schedule to start operation on August 23. Reno Technology Center under Horiba Instruments of the HORIBA Group in USA has been carrying out Horiba STEC’s development-related works.
However, the requirements for fluid measurement and control technology of gases or liquids in the semiconductor producing process have got so upgraded that quick responses to the need has turned out to be necessary.
To this end, in pursuit of the functional reinforcement for development including personnel and equipment, Horiba relocated the R&D base to an expanded site of the office in Reno with 38 employees (as of June 2018) and an investment mounting to about JPY1.2 billion.
President Koishi explained the aim to establish the new technology center saying, “In 1989 we set foot of business development in Silicon Valley. There are a number of semiconductor production equipment manufacturers as well as semiconductor manufacturers in North America. It is quite crucial for us to quickly respond to their technological requirements. The new development site of Reno Technology Center is the very base to play the role to propose solutions to such requirements.”
