Honeywell Sells New Low-GWP Refrigerant to Replace R410 and R32
On September 20, Honeywell started to sell new HFO refrigerant of low GWP to replace R410A and R32 in Europe, Middle-east and Africa.
The new refrigerant R452B (Trade Name: Solstice L41y) is characteristic in its lower GWP reduced by 67% from that of R410A and also its improved energy efficiency up 5% comparing with that of R32.
The discharge temperature is similar to R410A requiring no adjustment in the setting of equipment. As the applied pressure is also the same as R410A, there is no need to change the specifications of piping, brazing or refrigerant cylinder for a continuous use.
In the conversion from the existing refrigerant in practical use, users can reduce a filling quantity of refrigerant by 10% comparing with R410A. In addition, the temperature range is so wide that you can save working hours of equipment before evaporation and higher efficiency than R32 can be attained in a thermal application.
For information, the refrigerant seems to be a mixture of three gases of R32, R125 and R1234yf. According to the Public Relations Dept. staff of Honeywell Japan, only samples with charge are now available in the Japanese market, but is not known when it will be launched on the market.
