IIG Starts Japan’s Largest Helium Center in April

Iwatani Industrial Gases opened its Tokyo Helium Center located in the Ami East Industrial Complex in Ibaraki Prefecture, and started delivery from April 2019.

The new center was born by unifying for integration the helium filling function of Tsukuba Gas Center of helium output base and Yokosuka Gas Center of the other base in the eastern area of Japan. It is Iwatani’s production base of helium in the east Japan district.

The new filling capacity is 1.3 times more than the old system of two separate bases. Furthermore, thanks to the introduction of high-efficiency helium recovering system it has become possible to reduce down to one eighth the loss caused by boil-off gas inside containers or at the time of trans-filling of liquid helium. In addition, the new center is capable to produce high-purity helium by means of low-temperature purifying equipment.

IIG is planning to produce a cutting adge ultra-high purity helium of 6N5 or higher level which would exceed the 6N helium which is being handle by Osaka Helium Center. IIG is going to start delivery from the second half of 2019 for such applications as cooling/purging of semiconductor processes or the carrier purposes at the time of high-level analysis with gas chromatography.
