In September 2019 Mexichem Japan renewed its business brand from the Mexichem Fluor to Koura. The renaming followed that of its mother company which has been renamed as Orbia Advance Corporation since September 4, 2019.

Oribia originates in Orb (Latin word earth) and Bia standing for Goddess of Heroism in the Greek mythology, both of which are combined in the new name. 　

In conjunction with the new naming, the group globally unified the business brand related to the fluorine business into Koura, originated in a Haitian Creole word of “Koura” meaning courage.
