DAIKIN Joins Hands with US Honeywell to sell R448A
Daikin Industries tied up with US Honeywell at the end of 2019 in its domestic sales of R448A of low GWP to replace R404A, and started to sell the refrigerant under the product name of “Creard R-448A” from January.
R448A is refrigerant comprising five sorts of HFO and HFC with the feature of low GWP of 1386 and non-flammability (Class A1) developed by Honeywell, which is mainly applied to freezing/refrigerating appliances for business use.
Honeywell has been selling the product over the world under the name of “SOLSTICE N40” and got it adopted by over 23 thousand supermarkets.
Daikin Industries has so far been launching R407H of its own development to replace R404A similarly, but to meet the HFC phased reduction required by the Kigali Revision it was thought to be necessary urgently to provide a lineup of low GWP refrigerants. That seems to be the reason why Daikin decided to the tie-up.
As for an alternative of R404A, Mitsui/Chemours is also deploying the sales of R449A. So, from now on there will be a keen leadership competition between Honeywell/Daikin’s refrigerant R448A and Mitsui/Chemours’ R449A.
