Air Water Acquires to Affiliate NTK Medical Manufacturing Oxygen Concentrators
With effect from April 1, 2025, Air Water acquired the whole shares of NTK Medical which is a group member of Niterra(formerly NGK Spark Plug)
NTK Medical which is engaged in the nationwide business of oxygen concentrator (stationary type) for home oxygen therapy and has been a medical equipment manufacturer since April 2021 when it was split from Niterra for the dedicated business. Inside the industry the company is well known for the engagement in the business of OEM equipment for the major distributors, of which sales amount has reached about ¥900 million.
After joining the group, the company changed the name into Air Water Biodesign. In the Air Water Group, there was a company of the same name and it is now taken over. In addition, the head office of the company is moved into the premises of Miwa Business Office of Air Water Safety Service from the present Niterra’s Komaki Plant. .
With regard to the reason for grouping at this time, Air Water points out necessity to have a function to follow the market of West Japan. Air Water Medical which handles oxygen concentrators in the group has had an issue of the expanding logistic cost for the sales and maintenance of the equipment because the base is integrated in Kanto Area although the deliveries of sold equipment are expanding across the country.
To undertake grouping at this time, the company had an idea to realize reinforcement of business efficiency in the West Japan area by means of affiliating NTK Medical which has a business base in Aichi Prefecture.
Furthermore, it is also intended to aim for technological reinforcement. Air Water Medical has so far depended part of the production of current equipment handled upon procurement from other companies, and is now tackling to change the corporate constitution toward an own production system instead of the present external production. By incorporating NTK Medical into the group, Air Water is going to build up an integrated production system inside the group and tackle to create a synergy effect through technological exchanges between the two companies from now on. Air Water comments, “We plan to make efforts to develop new products taking advantage much more of NTK Medical’s technology sharing common response to needs in hospitals and patients for which Air Water have had experiences in the past sales activities.”
