Taiyo Nippon Sanso, Toyota Tsusho and Toho Gas to jointly test hydrogen supply infrastructure at Nagoya Port until the end of FY2025
Taiyo Nippon Sanso announced that it will begin testing a hydrogen supply infrastructure at Nagoya Port in collaboration with Toyota Tsusho and Toho Gas. They will proceed with verification of hydrogen filling equipment for FC vehicles such as trucks and forklifts, and large FC-powered cranes.
This undertaking was selected for NEDO’s (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) “Development of Technologies for Realizing a Hydrogen Society, and Regional Hydrogen Utilization Technology Development” project and will run from June this year until the end of fiscal 2025. The goal is to study low-cost hydrogen supply infrastructure suitable for logistics vehicles in ports and loading and unloading equipment that cannot move on its own, such as large cranes, with the goal of leading to future integration into society.
Prior to this project, Toyota Tsusho and Toho Gas estimated that there would be annual potential demand for hydrogen for loading and unloading operations, and logistics around the Nagoya Port container terminals amounting to up to approximately 1,500 t. Based on these findings, this project will examine the technical and business aspects of hydrogen supply infrastructure, such as hydrogen filling stations and mobile filling vehicles, while ensuring compliance with safety standards. Taiyo Nippon Sanso will be in charge of designing the supply infrastructure and verifying its safety, Toho Gas will study pressure accumulation method for hydrogen, and Toyota Tsusho will be in charge of coordinating the project.
