TNSC Joins Imec Program to Reduce Environmental Load for Semiconductor Industry

Taiyo Nippon Sanso (TNSC) is going to participate in and make co-development with imec (interuniversity microelectronics centre) for the program of SSTS (Sustainable Semiconductor Technologies and Systems) aiming to reduce environmental loads for the whole semiconductor Industry. The attempt of SSTS is intended to support reduction of environment load substances like carbon dioxide and wastes caused in the production process of semiconductor.

No detail of aim for the development about this attempt has been disclosed, but the company commented about direction saying “We are going to develop our gas technology leading to the reduction of environment load to meet social requirements and then put it into the market.”

The company is going to carry out the program in a task-force style in its Technical Development Unit and plans to work together with Nippon Gases Europe incorporated in Europe.Taiyo Nippon Sanso describes its intention saying, “We aim to promote our technological developments which may contribute to creation of a sustainable society, utilizing the synergy effect of the expertise of the two companies in gas handling and gas chemistry in combination with imec’s knowledge on the production of semiconductor.”
