On August 27, Taiyo Nippon Sanso (TNSC) started to sell liquefied products (LO₂, LIN and Ar) which cause no emission of greenhouse gases certified by authentic third party. 

In tie-up with Mitsubishi Clean Energy for a corporate PPA (power purchase agreement) of off-site type, TNSC has procured the electricity derived from the newly built inland wind-power station (an estimated annual generation of about 14GWh) for a long time of 20 years. The aim at this time is to offset the electricity spent for the operation of ASUs and the transportation of liquid (emitted CO₂) using the above-mentioned electricity, so that the produced liquid products can be sold as industrial gases with the addition of CO₂-free value factor to the liquefied gases.

  Although the output is not disclosed, liquid products of about a hundred million m³ can be assumed if an estimated electricity is fully used for liquid production.

　TNSC has obtained the authorization of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai which is a third-party organization for approval to refer to the international standard to secure verification of the calculation and practical procedures of CO₂ reducing effect. According to the company it has been the first attempt across the country to sell the green industrial gas which was authorized by the third party. 

The products are sold in liquid form using tank trucks The company also plans to offset the discharged amount of the CO₂ caused by transportation. Depending on user’s requirements (contracted quantity), the company provides the certificate of the authorization by the third party, so that users may be able to reduce CO₂ emission from their production process.  

The company named the product “Green Liquefied Nitrogen” as it has the largest atmospheric contents and has the most symbolic presence among all air separation gases. The sales area extends across the country excepting Hokkaido and Okinawa.  The selling prices are not disclosed, but it seems that an environmental factor of CO₂ free will be added to the value for sales, differently from the existing liquid products in general.

TNSC has commercialized the product foreseeing users’ CO₂-free requirements for the industrial gas process they use for realization of a carbon neutral society.
